Summer Services

As most of you know during the summer months the temperature in our Sanctuary gets quite "unbearable". No matter how many fans are in place, or windows and doors are open, Father Dan and our acolytes and worship leaders bear the brunt of the heat (not to mention the rest of us).

Until further notice, we will be holding Sunday Eucharist in the Common Room.   See you on Sunday.

Our Apostle Window

On July 23rd we celebrate the feast day of Saint James. James was the brother of John. He was the patron Saint of Spain and the first to go on a missionary journey. On our Apostle window, Saint James has the shield of the pilgrim with a symbol of scallops and is located second from the bottom on the side by the door. This window was given for Alberta Smith by her husband Albert.   ( Thank you to Lee Faber for providing us with this bit of history).

Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King was founded in 1885 by Margaret J. Franklin at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in New York City. Members of the Order undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.

  The
Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is a spiritual sisterhood of women dedicated to a life of Prayer, Service and Evangelism. They are an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the Historic Episcopate. Today membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches.

We would like to invite all women of St. Martin's and local churches, as the
Order of the Daughters of the King is not limited to the Episcopal Church, to join us in re-establishing our Chapter. If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a member please contact Father Dan at 868-5358 or send an email to saintmartin@frontier.com
