Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner
Annual Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner
on Saturday, January 28th
from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Cost this year is $9.00 for adults, $4.50 for children 6-12, and children 5 and under are free. Take outs will be available. The menu includes: Pork, sauerkraut, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade applesauce, fresh bread, and a variety of desserts. Dinner will be served family style. Come and start the New Year with family, friends, and a great meal!

Although the Lady's Auxiliary hosts this event, our Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner has become a parish event and we could use a helping hand. This is a great time to share with your parish family! Help is needed in the setting up, in the kitchen, serving, and yes, cleaning up. If you can spare some time, your help would be greatly appreciated. Just in case, our snow date is Saturday, February 4th.

Food Pantry
For the year of 2011 the Mountain Top Food Bank served an average of 65-70 families and individuals per month. Almost 700 boxes of food were given out this year, and along with Feed-A-Friend, 90 Thanksgiving baskets ere distributed and 90 Hams were given out at Easter. This was all accomplished with your help. Please take the time to read the letter sent from the Mountain Top Food Bank which is posted on the bulletin board in the Common Room. With all that was accomplished last year, the need for donations in 2012 is expected to increase due to the economy. Your continued support and contributions are greatly needed and appreciated. The Food Bank is in need of the following items: mayonnaise, jelly, peanut butter, carrots, coffee, canned fruit, noodles, syrup, hot chocolate, jello, popcorn, canned soups, and mustard. Please and an item or two to your shopping cart and drop them off in the basket located in the Narthex or in the Undercroft. Once again, thank you for your prayerful contributions!

Soup for Super Bowl Sunday
Sunday, February 5th is Super Bowl Sunday. In "celebration" we will be placing a "soup bowl" in the Narthex for your donations. Monetary donations are being collected to benefit St. Vincent De Paul's Soup Kitchen located in Wilkes-Barre. Cans of soup are also being collected and will be donated to the Mountain Top Food Bank.

Publicity person needed.....
We are still in search of a willing volunteer to take care of publicity. Anyone wishing to donate your time and talent please contact our Senior Warden, Archie Weyhenmeyer.

Hoagie Sale
The Lady's Auxiliary will be holding a Hoagie Sale on Saturday, February 12th. Orders will be due on Sunday, February 5th. Hoagies will be $5.00 each. To place an order please contact Lorraine Roushey or any member of the Lady's Auxiliary.

Pledge Cards
Yes, it's that time of year again and the Finance Committee would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to please return your pledge cards. It is imperative that we return our pledge cards in order for the Finance Committee to prepare the Church budget for next year. As always, your prayerful consideration in filling our your commitment card is greatly appreciated. If you have not received a pledge card or have any questions please contact Rich Evans or any member of the Finance Committee. We ask that you return your pledge cards no later than Sunday, December 17th.

Daughters of the King ----------------------------------

The Order of the Daughters of the King was founded in 1885 by Margaret J. Franklin at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in New York City. Members of the Order undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.

The Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is a spiritual sisterhood of women dedicated to a life of Prayer, Service and Evangelism. They are an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the Historic Episcopate. Today membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches.

We would like to invite all women of St. Martin's and local churches, as the Order of the Daughters of the King is not limited to the Episcopal Church, to join us in re-establishing our Chapter. If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a member please contact Father Dan at 868-5358 or send an email to saintmartin@frontier.com
