Food Pantry

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
- Sir Winston Churchill.

What's on the menu? This month we're filling our basket with Pancake Mix and Bisquick. Thank you so much for your donations to the Mountain Top Area Food Bank. A basket will be located in the breezeway to collect your contributions. Thank you in advance for your prayerful contribution!

Pet CPR

Sunday, August 22, we will be hosting a Pet CPR class at 5:00PM. Finding your pet not breathing or with his heart not beating can be a terrifying experience, but there are things you can do. Learn how to perform Rescue Breaths, locate the Heart and Pulse, count Compressions, and perform Heimlich on dogs and cats. Demonstrations will be performed on Dog mannequins. We are asking for a $10.00 donation per person which will be donated to the Hillside SPCA in Pottsville. Hillside is a no-kill animal shelter. Every participant will recieve a certificate of completion and a $5.00 gift certificate for Pet Supplies Plus. Please call Pat at 466-0766 for information or to make your reservation.

We're trying something new! Saturday, October 23rd, has been set for our first Fall and Winter Bazaar! Activities will include a bake sale, Christmas table, rummage sale, silent auction, children's table and we will be serving lunch! This is quite an undertaking and we are asking for volunteers to help. Crafter's get busy, "nearly new" items are needed for our rummage sale, donations for the silent auction would be greatly appreciated! Pat Rothwell will be heading off this event and your help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone wishing to lend a hand or submit a donation can contact Pat at 578-4132

Looking Forward ....

The Ladies Auxiliary will be manning a table at the Nuangola Library's Annual Arts & Crafts Fair to be held Saturday, September 4th, at the Nuangola Pavillion. The Lady's will be selling our "famous" Welsh Cookies along with numerous baked goods. Donations for the Bake Sale are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Pavillion the day of the craft fair or at the Church by 8:00AM.

In preparation for our bake sale, we will be busy making Welsh Cookies on Thursday, September 1st at 8:00AM. If you can mix, roll, or fry we can use your help. If you can't, we'll be more than willing to teach you! For information please contact Marlene at 868-5690 or any member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King was founded in 1885 by Margaret J. Franklin at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in New York City. Members of the Order undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.

  The
Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is a spiritual sisterhood of women dedicated to a life of Prayer, Service and Evangelism. They are an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the Historic Episcopate. Today membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches.

We would like to invite all women of St. Martin's and local churches, as the
Order of the Daughters of the King is not limited to the Episcopal Church, to join us in re-establishing our Chapter. If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a member please contact Father Dan at 868-5358 or send an email to saintmartin@frontier.com
